Artemis

Throughout  2012, Artemis will volunteer even more of her time to helping young writers realize their artistic potential, as well as
encouraging them to use their gifts to embrace causes to touch and change their world.  She is currently organizing the ninth annual
free song contest for
The School Alliance of Student Songwriters, as well as planning after-school writing, media, and performance
workshops, a May 24, 2012 SASS benefit concert featuring
The Abrams Brothers at Oshawa's Regent Theatre,  the June 9, 2012
SASS Gala and enjoying the program's 15 other staged events.

Artemis is the Co-Founder of the School Alliance of Student Songwriters, or SASS, and has facilitated the delivery of over
1,600 pro. writer workshops and inspired weekly writers' forums in 25-50 schools a year since 2003.  She thanks Dale
Russell, Don Quarles,  Rob Laidlaw, Katherine Wheatley, Oso Simple, Chad Doucette, Linda M, 20 other songwriters, along
with Stephanie Seigner, Darlene Voogt, Victor Fuke, Dave Maclean, Josh Raycroft, Mark Magee, and 150 other caring,
Canadian educators and parent volunteers for supporting the creation of
SASS.  Her own 10,000+ hours of volunteer youth
work to start up this program of self-expression and literacy for teens, matched by the giving spirit of SASS Co-Founder, Dale
Russell, led to the investment of many corporations and community organizations.  SASS is grateful to
The SOCAN
Foundation, MIAC
, the CMPA, Leland Industries, the Optimist Club, the Rotary Club, Yamaha, Roland, Long &
McQuade, Rogers Music, Sennheiser, Hagstrom, Hartke, Samson,
the Durham District School Board's Literacy and
Student Success offices
, the OPG and the Ontario Trillium Foundation for their support of young artists.

Artemis and Dale Russell's song "Will This Be A Good Year?" was recently featured as the theme song of a six-part
televised series "
Adventures in Wine Country" produced by Greg Rist.  Artemis' voice was heard in 2011 on radio restaurant
ads and the theme song for Chuck Byers' "
Two In A Vineyard". One of Artemis' songs was also recently selected for
inclusion in an upcoming Canadian film.

Artemis has enjoyed recording background vocals on fellow artists' projects, such as Tamin' Thunder's "Good As Gold"
album, released in late 2011.  Artemis finished her own
original CD project, "More Light", in 2004, followed by two music
videos/ DVDs by Greg Rist, for the title track
"More Light" as well as "Attitude Is Everything". These original songs were
inspired by her experiences as a mother and teacher who has spent years tuned in to young people.   All proceeds of the
sale of "
More Light" go to help expand the free programs SASS offers to youth.

Over the past few years, Artemis has developed a written song-writing curriculum she provides free to SASS schools.  In the
winter of 2004, she also co-authored the French-language Oxford University Press grade 8 unit on songwriting, "
Ca Brasse!",
distributed in schools across Canada in the spring of 2005, and, in 2011, acted as French language consultant on other
musical teaching aids developed for grade four students.

Until the end of 2009, Artemis rocked out with
The Genuines, and wishes her friends in this original band continued
happiness in music. Although her main areas of focus remain her family, her teaching career and the SASS program,
Artemis continues to write and co-write several times a month, as well as undertaking session work as a flutist or backing
vocalist.

Many will also remember the volunteer efforts of Artemis between 2002-2004, organizing several benefit concerts for Cancer
Research at
Sunnybrook Hospital, Hearth Place Cancer Support Centre, and the Canadian Diabetes Association, with
fellow-musician Dale Russell, under the banner of their not-for-profit organization,
Do It For The Love, as well as a nine-song
musical "
The Prodigal Son" which she wrote with her brother, John Connors, and directed with a cast of over 30 players to
three packed houses in 1998 to benefit
Hearth Place and The Ark Youth Shelter.
