You may hear Artemis and Dale volunteering to perform as part of the Durham Humane Society's "Love Is In The Air" Fundraiser on
Saturday night, February 6, 2010, after 7 p.m., at 420 Wing, 1000 Stevenson Rd. N., Oshawa. The evening of fun, music, food and
dancing is being organized by local jazz artist, Mélanie E. Tickets are $30 or $50 a couple. Phoenix Rising, a compilation CD of
Durham artists, will be on sale at the event to help the Durham humane society.
In 2010, Artemis plans to devote even more of her time to helping young writers realize their artistic potential, as well as
encouraging them to use their gifts to embrace causes to touch and change their world, such as the earthquake disaster in Haiti.
Artemis is the co-founder of the School Alliance of Student Songwriters, or SASS, which has grown to as many as 50
schools a year in Ontario and British Columbia since 2003, with the help of Dale Russell, Don Quarles, Don McLeod, David
Blair, David Anthony, Katherine Wheatley, Oso Simple, Chad Doucette, Linda M, and 20 other songwriters, 150 caring,
Canadian teachers. Following over 8,000+ hours of volunteer youth work to start up this program of self-expression and
literacy for teens, which led to grants by The SOCAN Foundation, MIAC, the CMPA and the Ontario Trillium Foundation,
Artemis has facilitated the delivery of 1,500 pro.writer workshops in the schools, and continues to support the growth of
more SASS songwriting clubs in other provinces across Canada. For more about the extraordinary young writers of SASS,

Artemis released her first original CD project, "More Light", in 2004, followed by two music videos/ DVDs by Greg Rist,
for the title track "More Light" as well as "Attitude Is Everything". These original songs were inspired by her experiences as a
mother and teacher who has spent years tuned in to young people. All proceeds of the sale of "More Light" go to help
expand the free programs SASS offers youth.
Over the past few years, Artemis has developed a free song-writing curriculum she provides to SASS schools. In the winter
of 2004, she also co-authored the French-language Oxford University Press grade 8 unit on songwriting, "Ca Brasse!",
distributed in schools across Canada in the spring of 2005.
Until the end of 2009, Artemis rocked out with The Genuines, and wishes her friends in this original band continued
happiness on stage. Although her main areas of focus are her family, full-time high school teaching career and the expanding
SASS program, Artemis continues to write and co-write several times a month, as well as making guest flute or background
vocal appearances on friends' albums.
Many will also remember the volunteer efforts of Artemis between 2002-2004, organizing several benefit concerts for Cancer
Research at Sunnybrook Hospital, Hearth Place Cancer Support Centre, and the Canadian Diabetes Association, with fellow-
musician Dale Russell, under the banner of their not-for-profit organization, Do It For The Love.
